Is there anything more ironic than a system getting hacked during a presentation on Internet Security? This is exactly what transpired during a presentation by Australian football star Jarryd Hayne. In the middle of his presentation, school children were in for a rude surprise- lewd pictures popped up on screen.

The event in detail

Jarryd Hayne was invited to speak at the Robina State High School and he showed the gathering of 200 students, images from his phone on behalf of Norton Security. Norton Security is one of sponsors of Gold Coast Titans, a rugby team based in Queensland.

The presentation before the adult picture debacle was a detailed explanation of the Norton Software. The announcer was explaining to the students that everything that Jarryd had visited or browsed through would appear. Soon after he finished saying so, the adult pictures appeared.

Jarryd, a victim of hacking, faced the situation with good grace. As soon as the images appeared, Jarryd froze. He eyes were glued to the image, till the screen went blue. For a disaster such as this, the calm composure Jarryd displayed shows his level of discipline as an athlete.

In response to this catastrophe, spokesperson of Norton clarified that the network on which Jarryd was on, was not protected by a password- an open network. A person whose identity is yet to be unveiled, accessed the network, hacked into it and posted the images. The malicious intent of the hacker did not shake Jarryd’s stance that the pictures were not his.

Jarryd responded saying that he was as shocked as the audience when those pictures appeared. The fact that his phone was hacked must be considered as a wakeup call to everyone who still believes that hackers go after only the big guns. Everyone is at risk and the only way to stop these unwanted attacks is to follow security precautions. Always access closed networks.

Hayne, although the initial reports suggest that his phone was hacked into, is under investigation for his prior criminal activities by the NRL Integrity Unit. Jarryd has been with the Gold Coast club for as little as three months. His association with the club started in August after a short stint with the NFL in the United States of America. Jarryd is not the first celebrity who has fallen prey to porn pranksters.
