What Is ISP Throttling?
ISP throttling = your internet provider intentionally slowing your connection for specific activities.
Examples:
- Streaming suddenly drops to buffering quality
- Gaming ping spikes when downloading
- Uploads throttle randomly
Why ISPs do this: Reduce network congestion (legitimate) or force you to upgrade plans (not legitimate).

1. Speed drops at specific times
Consistent slowdown during peak hours (7-10pm). Indicates congestion, possibly throttling.
2. Specific activities are slower
One activity works fine while another crawls. Classic throttling.
3. Speed improves with VPN
If speeds jump the moment the VPN is on, your ISP can't see the traffic type → no throttling.
4. Different devices have same issue

How to Fix ISP Throttling

Get a faster tier from your ISP. Works but costs more.
